At the core of our work as clinical supervisors is our desire to promote safe and ethical practice through a creative and meaningful approach. We want to help therapists be able to use their skills effectively and to enjoy doing this.

We will be exploring the use of creativity in clinical supervision with an emphasis on ethical practice. We will identify the ethical role of the clinical supervisor, describe procedures in supervision, competencies required, and boundary issues. Topics include informed consent, dual relationships, ethical problem-solving, duty to warn, documentation, and letters of recommendation. This presentation fulfills ethics or supervision requirements for Counselors set by the CSWMFT Board of Ohio. CEUs are also available for social workers and MFTs in Ohio.
Participants will:
Discuss opportunities and limits of creativity in clinical supervision.
Understand four aspects of the role of the clinical supervisor.
Be aware of procedures in supervision and their impact on setting direction for the supervision experience.
Understand supervisor and supervisee competence.
Know the importance of educating supervisees regarding informed consent, dual relationships, problem-solving, duty to warn, documentation, and letters of recommendation.
